In October 2000,
in the midst of our civil wedding ceremony,
in a beautiful old Jacobean hall,
filled with the warmth of 90 friends and family
and the glow of 36 candles,
I had an epiphany! Oh Yes!
Right there, on the verge of speaking my vows,
I was struck by a moment of such clarity
that it will be with me until my dying day.

In a split second I understood that all I had ever thought, seen, and done, in my life had been leading up to this point. I knew that I was meant to be right there, getting married to this man and apart from giving birth to my son, I have never felt such power, vibrancy and elation in one moment.

My vows came out in a strong and pure voice and the short words that I had written the night before, flowed from my heart. It was liberating; I felt a sense of achievement and pride that made an impact on my life, our marriage and on me. For someone who grew up with no desire to be married this was the most unexpected outcome!

I have no doubt that my wedding day experience was due to the fact that I had prepared myself thoroughly, from the inside out, to be married.

When I was unable to find anything either in print or on the Internet to help me to explore what getting married meant to me, I eventually just did it by myself. I devised a step- by- step approach in order to gain absolute clarity on the situation and a greater insight into myself and who I was.

I became emotionally unburdened, mentally prepared and relaxed and confident about creating our wedding day. The months of planning were so enjoyable and special; I cherish them as much as the day itself.

No-one had told me that it could be like this-such a positive experience and significant journey. It’s not what we often hear about.

I knew that I wanted to pass on and share the undeniable benefits of getting married and planning a wedding from the inside out with as many people as possible-I just needed to find an effective way of doing it.
